Cellular Service Migration

Cellular Service Migration

The State of Alaska (SOA) is switching vendors for core cellular services from GCI to AT&T.

On December 31, 2023, the State of Alaska's current agreement with GCI to provide core cellular services will end.

What this means:

SOA departments and agencies will be working with the new vendor, AT&T, to migrate cellular services from GCI to AT&T prior to GCI's contract end date. The term "cellular service" applies to cellular service plans and cellular devices, including iOS and Android devices. MIFIs (portable hot spots) and tablets (including iPads) will also need to migrate from GCI to AT&T.

Where can departments find more information about the cellular service migration from GCI to AT&T?

Biweekly Status Updates | The migration leads identified by each department, including Administrative Services Directors (ASDs) and Department Technology Officers (DTOs), receive biweekly status updates from the project team.
